The Philadelphia Emerging Contaminants Initiative is a research community at the University of Pennsylvania focused on monitoring emerging contaminants of concern to human health and ecosystems, specifically microplastics, heavy metals, and PFAS in urban waterways across Philadelphia. Our community is sponsored by the Penn Environmental Innovations Initiative and brings together collaborators from the schools of engineering, science, medicine, and the Water Center at Penn. We invite all students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and other members of the Penn community to attend our workshops and guest lectures on emerging contaminants.
