Shu Yang and Collaborators Receive NSF Grant for Multidisciplinary Program
Shu Yang, a professor in the School of Engineering, is leading research to develop sustainable heating and cooling technologies for buildings by collaborating with architects. To further this goal, she has initiated the CLIMATE-CARE program, a multidisciplinary training initiative funded by a $3 million NSF grant.
Shu Yang, Joseph Bordogna Professor in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the University of Pennsylvania, is pioneering research focused on using synthetic and biological materials to address critical climate change challenges. A key area of her work involves developing efficient heating and cooling technologies for buildings, with the goal of reducing energy consumption and carbon footprints. As humans spend a significant amount of time indoors, Yang emphasizes the importance of creating buildings that are more energy-efficient and better aligned with natural processes.
